Position Description

Looking for a dynamic Ministry Director interested in learning new skills, meeting new people and joining a team committed to leading this cancer ministry, Cancer Companions, to national recognition. Excellent training and mentorship for the selected candidate will be provided. The position is designed to have strong opportunities for career advancement. The Ministry Director will be responsible for planning, implementing and reporting for ministry’s Annual Giving program as well as executing a sales flow system to turn leads into new church volunteer teams. 

Cancer Companions

Cancer Companions is a 501c3 ministry which is in a fast growth phase to increase our reach into the oncology community so we may serve more cancer patients. We create Christian cancer materials for use by cancer patients, oncology professionals and our trained volunteers.  With over 250 volunteers on 51 volunteer teams in 24 states, Cancer Companions is considered the premiere Christian cancer ministry. 

Responsibilities

  1. Plays an important role in the overall success of Cancer Companions by managing direct appeal campaigns that result in both new volunteers and donors as well as an increased financial commitment from existing donors

  2. Develops annual giving plan with executive leadership to meet overall organization goals.

  3. Develops budget for Annual Giving revenues and expenses and provides Board Treasurer information from other business areas for budget.

  4. Responsible for ministry’s in-person events to cultivate donors/prospects. Will also collaborate with the Communication Coordinator for virtual events and campaigns. 

  5. Works in collaboration with the Communication Coordinator to devise and implement effective messaging and communication for all phases of donor identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship, including other annual giving initiatives and special event programs

  6. Writes annual fund materials.

  7. Represent Cancer Companions products to prospective church teams by effectively communicating the program’s benefits.

  8. Follow up prospective church team leads by utilizing a carefully
    defined messaging strategy and call sequence. 

  9. Prepares timely reports.

  10. Adhere to Cancer Companions core values 

  11. Update and maintain policies and procedures for your area.

  12. Other duties as assigned

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree 

  • Advanced knowledge of appropriate software including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, Microsoft PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat

  • Valid driver’s license and current automobile insurance

  • Proper documentation to work in the United States

  • Must be able to pass a background check

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently with minimal supervision

  • Self-motivation to work independently and as a team member

  • Detail-oriented and organized

  • Excellent speaking, writing, and presentation skills

  • Customer Relationship Management system experience preferred; 

  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills required

  • Good problem solving and the ability to find solutions to system questions and issues without formal training.

  • Administrative reporting and analyzing information abilities
