Mary Heger is a retired technology and customer experience executive with over 40 years of experience in the utility sector. Mary brings a strong background in board governance practices through her work with both corporate and non-profit boards. Leveraging her business and technology knowledge, Mary brings expertise in digital technology, cyber security and customer engagement. As a member of Ameren’s executive leadership team, Mary influenced and participated in strategic planning and execution oversight for the corporation, an electric and gas utility serving over 3.3 million customers in Illinois and Missouri.
Mary has served on community-based not-for-profit boards for more than twenty years. She currently serves as Treasurer of the Missouri Historical Society Board of Trustees and was previously Chairman of the Board of Directors for the International Institute of St. Louis and Treasurer of South Side Early Childhood Center. Mary’s current Board positions also include Cancer Companions and St. Louis Forum. Mary has received recognition for her contributions to the St. Louis region at large. Some of these awards include St. Louis Business Journal Technology Leader of the Year Award (2017), Dean’s Award in the John E. Simon School of Business at Maryville University (2014), and the St. Louis Business Journal Most Influential Women in St. Louis Award (2013). Mary holds an executive MBA from Washington University in St. Louis and graduated magna cum laude from Maryville University with a major in business administration.
