“So, whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God” (1 Corinthians 10:31 NIV).

God saved me as an adult, when I was going through a difficult time in my life. One issue our family was facing was unstable employment—which, with two young girls to support at the time, was weighing heavily on my heart. For a while, I had felt like God was trying to teach me that He would provide. All I needed to do was trust Him. But it is hard to trust when you feel like your world is falling apart. I questioned Him. “Do You even see me? Do You really care about this situation?”

Then one day I was at work and headed downstairs to teach a class. I was late, so I was in a hurry. Suddenly, I remembered that I forgot to bring tape with me. I needed four pieces of tape to use as part of an object lesson that day. I quickly decided I would find a way to hold all four papers together in such a way that the picture would still make sense. It would be tricky, but I could do it. Who needed tape?

Suddenly, the words God had been teaching me all week flashed through my mind. “God will provide.” I smiled to myself and thought, “Well, right about now I could use some tape!” I knew I needed to trust God with the big stuff my family was going through. I knew He wanted me to trust He would take care of us. However, there was still a part of me that didn’t believe He actually cared about ALL things—the big and the small—in my life. In that moment, I didn’t really think it mattered to Him if I needed tape or not.

That’s why you can imagine my surprise when I walked into the classroom, and on the edge of the white board were four pieces of scotch tape!

In that moment I knew: God cares about every aspect of our lives—the big and the small. When His Word tells us He knows the number of hairs on our head, I believe it is true! How else would He know the exact number of pieces of tape I needed that morning?

God cares. He cares about your diagnosis. He cares about your treatments, your side effects and your doctor’s visits. He cares! Make a point today to be aware of Him in all things—even those that seem mundane. As you are doing this, do all things—even the little ones—to His glory! When you’re folding laundry—glorify Him! He sees you providing clean clothes for your family to wear! When you’re washing the dishes—do it to His glory! He is honored by your servant’s heart. And finally, when you eat or drink, remember, He cares about that too. Thank Him for food. Ask Him for help to make healthy food choices. When you do this, you bring Him glory!

Pray: Father God, thank You for caring about every aspect of our lives. You care about both the big and the small. Help us to seek You in everything we do. Help us to perform for an audience of One, and to do all things to Your glory! Thank You that we serve a good God who loves us more than we can ever imagine! I pray in Jesus’ name. Amen.
