Prayer to Find a Cure for Cancer

with NFL Hall of Fame Star, Kurt Warner

Dear Heavenly Father,

We first and foremost pray for all those that are dealing with this horrific disease. We pray for strength and courage for each and every one of them and their family members as they continue to fight the good fight. We pray that you allow them to continue to fight until we find this cure. We don't want to lose one more person to this horrific disease. We pray for the doctors and the scientists that are working so hard to find a cure. We pray wisdom upon each and every one of them, and the decision makers. That you bring the right people together, the right combination to be able to create something that will end this disease forever.

We pray favor upon the process, the trials, all of the things that are going on to work in this direction. We pray that there is favor upon each and every one of those that there's nothing that gets hung up in the process. That it's fast and it's speedy and we continue to make progress in those areas. The collaboration and bringing people together, the right pieces together to get things quickly through that process.

We continue to pray for generosity that we know throughout the finding of a cure that funds are needed for the research for those that are involved. To reach out to places that they haven't thought before, to connect with people across the globe. So we just pray for all those that are in a position to be able to give and continue to help fund this cure. We pray that their hearts are opened, they're connected with the right people and that their hearts stay generous to this cause.

We pray for everyone across the globe because this is not just a North America issue, it's not just a European issue. This is a worldwide issue and so I pray for collaboration with all the greatest minds and all the greatest scientists and doctors around the world that are all working on this individually. That somehow the connections are made between those great people to come together to put their mind together so that we have the best of everything working together to find this cure.

And lastly we just pray for your speed that we want this done now. We want this done tomorrow and we always step back and say in your timing but we are going to pray of you that you speed up this process as only you can do. That you reach down and that your hand touches and is upon all those that are working so diligently, all those that are fighting this incredible battle. That your hand is upon what is being done, that we pray for speed and quickness through whatever those means are. That need to be sped up so that we can get that cure, that we can find that solution to this horrific problem that we're all dealing with.

We pray for all these things, we believe for all these things in the name of your Son, Jesus Christ.

AMEN

About the Speaker

Kurt Warner’s story is one of a man who continually beat the odds to quarterback two perennial doormat franchises to the Super Bowl and etched his name in the NFL record books along the way including his Pro Football Hall of Fame induction in 2017.

The first chapter of Warner’s tale was written in 1999 when he defied logic by emerging from obscurity to lead the St. Louis Rams to a victory in Super Bowl XXXIV.  In that same year, Warner was named the NFL and Super Bowl Most Valuable Player.  As the ringleader of the “Greatest Show on Turf,” he led the Rams to two additional playoff appearances – including another Super Bowl - and received Pro Bowl honors for three consecutive years (1999-2001).  He also earned his second NFL MVP in 2001.

Injuries and other factors led Kurt from the Rams to the Giants and finally the Arizona Cardinals in 2005.   In 2007, the veteran signal caller began his renaissance which climaxed in 2008, when he led the Cardinals to their first ever Super Bowl berth, was voted to his fourth Pro Bowl, and surpassed several Cardinals’ franchise records including touchdowns, attempts, completions, completion percentage and passer rating.

Kurt Warner’s gridiron accomplishments pale in comparison to the dedication he devotes to the community.  In 2001, Kurt and his wife Brenda established the First Things First Foundation (www.kurtwarner.org), a non-profit public charity dedicated to impacting lives by promoting Christian values, sharing experiences and providing opportunities to encourage everyone that all things are possible when people seek to put first things first.  In 2012, Kurt and Brenda initiated an additional philanthropic endeavor called Treasure House (www.treasurehouse.org), a residential facility for young adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Warner was born and raised in Iowa and played college football at the University of Northern Iowa.  He is currently an analyst on the NFL Network and Westwood One Radio. Kurt and Brenda live in Arizona and have seven children and two grandchildren.

First Things First is dedicated to impacting lives by promoting Christian values, sharing experiences and providing opportunities to encourage everyone that all things are possible when people seek to put first things first. The life experiences - both high and low - of the Warners are used as a compass in guiding the activities of the foundation. All projects are centered on their life theme of putting faith and family first. Learn more at www.kurtwarner.org.
